Beware of the Home Depot Henry

Look, I'm a capitalist. I believe in the free market. But sometimes, the market is a stupid. Take exterior cleaning. You see these "Home Depot Henrys" popping up everywhere. Guys who watched a few Youtube videos, borrowed their Dad’s old pressure washer or dropped by their local Home Depot to pick up the latest consumer grade equipment. They may have even borrowed their buddy’s beat-up truck and slapped a magnetic business decal proving that they’re real "professionals." They undercut the real pros, the ones who've invested in training, insurance, licensing, and top-of-the-line equipment that can run in the multiple tens of thousands of dollars.

Now, I get it. You want the cheapest price. So do I. But let me tell you, this is where the "you get what you pay for" adage can bite you where the sun don’t shine.

First, experience matters. These fly by night hustlers might be able to blast off some mildew, but they don't understand the nuances. The right amounts of pressure or angles for different surfaces, the most efficient orifices, the right chemical proportions, or even the right chemicals to use. Your property might look great, but you might not notice the chipped paint, the damaged shingles, the missing sealant or caulking that was meant to keep the rain out. Or if you still care, they could also injure themselves and don’t forget, this is America, the land where you can spill hot coffee on yourself and sue for millions.

Second, equipment matters. A cheap pressure rental pressure washer is not built for commercial use. These are more sensitive to chemicals and wear and tear, and generally not as well maintained which translates into less consistent output which can lead to uneven cleaning, less efficient cleaning, and potentially damage to your property.

Third, insurance matters. What happens if these guys slip and fall on your property? What if they damage your roof? If they're uninsured, you're on the hook. You're talking thousands, maybe tens of thousands of dollars in potential liability.

So, you're saving a few bucks upfront, but you're risking:

  • Property damage: Cracks, chips, leaks, mold growth.

  • Personal injury: To yourself, your family, or the "professional."

  • Financial ruin: Lawsuits, property repairs, medical bills.

  • Environmental harm: Not taking proper pre-cautions to protect your landscaping or allowing chemical run off

This is about protecting yourself. It's about making smart decisions.

Do you want to gamble with your property, personal safety, and your hard-earned money? Or do you want to hire a qualified professional who knows what they're doing?

Trust Nothing Unclean to do the job right and for a more than fair price.
